The Castro: The Story of San Francisco's Best-Known LGBTQ+ Neighborhood

Authors Jen Reck and Gerard Koskovich present their new booklet tracing the Castro's evolution from a sleepy Irish Catholic neighborhood to the Bay Area's most prominent LGBTQ+ hub. Joined by Tina V. Aguirre of the Castro LGBTQ+ Cultural District and Devin McGeehan Muchmore from the GLBT Historical Society, they'll explore the neighborhood's history since the 1950s—its role in activism and community-building, the forces that opposed it, and ongoing struggles around diversity and belonging.
