Matthew Shepard Day of Rememberance

September 23rd marks the 28th year of Bi Visibility Day — a global day of celebration for the bisexual community and a moment to confront the erasure and biphobia bi+ people face year-round. Dallas Hope Charities is hosting a gathering to mark the occasion and build community with other bi and bi+ folks.

A celebration of lesbian visibility, history, and community power. From the 1950s bar scene to today's activism, lesbians have built a legacy of resilience, solidarity, and radical inclusion. This event honors that history—the fights for freedom, the chosen families, the symbols of resistance—and recognizes the ongoing work of uplifting all women, especially those from marginalized communities and our trans sisters.

National Coming Out Day (October 11) honors the anniversary of the 1987 March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights and the activists who founded this day in 1988. At Dallas Hope Charities, we gather to reflect on what coming out means today — acknowledging both its history as an act of visibility and resistance, and the real conversations happening now about safety, pressure, and what liberation looks like for all of us. A space to honor the complexity of our community's journey.

A moment to recognize and celebrate the vital work of LGBT community centers across the country — organizations that provide shelter, support, and community to LGBTQ+ young adults and families. Dallas Hope Charities is hosting this observance to honor the centers doing this essential work in our community and beyond.
