NYC Council LGBTQIA+ Caucus Presents: Brooklyn Pride in Policy Roundtable

Community Focused

Yoga 4 Queer Bodies is a body-affirming movement and mindfulness class built by and for the LGBTQIA+ community, at Brooklyn Community Pride Center in Crown Heights. You'll move through accessible posture sequences, grounding breathwork and deep rest, with no experience needed and no judgment. Expect some real talk about social justice too, since yoga's roots are about more than movement. Registration is required, and the class runs 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Community Focused

Monday night pickup basketball for LGBTQ+ players and allies of all skill levels at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center. No tryouts, no drama — just show up ready to play, get a workout in, and connect with community on the court. All skill levels welcome; just bring sneakers and energy.

Community Focused

Learn Pencak Silat — a Southeast Asian martial art that blends self-defense, breathwork, mindfulness, and dance — in a space built for all bodies, all levels, and all genders. Instructors Ilana and Steph create an inclusive, playful class that's as much about building community and confidence as it is about gaining new skills.

Mental Health Services

Drop-in sessions for short, one-on-one mental health support — whether you're having a tough day, processing the news cycle, or just need to talk things through with someone who gets it. Sessions are up to 30 minutes, in-person or virtual, and the center can connect you with further resources if you need them. Registration required.

Community Focused

A 40-minute short film serving as the preamble to the first Jamaican feature film, following a young man in Jamaica coming to terms with his queer identity. The story tracks what he risks in friendship, family, and personal safety in a country where being gay is criminalized and can be dangerous. A ticket is required to attend; the screening runs 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center.

Free

Free HIV/STI testing every Wednesday afternoon at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center, no ID or insurance required. Project STAY brings confidential, judgment-free testing to the community — drop in anytime between 4pm and 7pm. Take care of yourself on your own schedule.
